Mumbai, dt. 13 September 2022, Tuesday
The Bombay High Court has ordered the central government to take custody of the children of filmmaker Mushtaq Nadiadwala. According to Nadiadwala's petition, her two children are being held hostage in Pakistan.
Nadiadwala's wife left for Pakistan two years ago with their 9-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter and now they are not in contact with their children. He alleged that his children were taken hostage.
A bench of Justices Revathi Mohit Dere and Justices Mohit Chauhan said during the hearing of the case on Monday that it is not right for a father to wander from place to place to find out about his children.
The High Court had said that if Nadiadwala's wife was also kept there by intimidation, the central government should try to bring her later.
Last month too, the High Court sought the response of the Ministry of External Affairs in the case and asked an officer of the passport department to meet Nadiadwala.
