Bollywood is the biggest stage: Prateek Gandhi

- The superhit actor-director duo of Prateek Gandhi and Hansal Mehta will now star in an ambitious web series on Gandhiji's life.

Prateek Gandhi has come a long way as an actor. He gave several years to theater before entering OTT and films. That is why acting flows like blood in the veins of this actor. Starting from a regional theater actor to becoming a national level star, Rangdevata has given him the talent and courage required for the journey. Prateek has also shown that the dream you dream can be realized, it just requires some patience, self-confidence and hard work! In Bollywood and in the digital space, he is making new achievements, but his first love is theatre. Recently after a long time he stole time and re-entered the stage. In Gujarat, he did the shows of the super hit 'Mohan no Masalo' and the drama 'Sar Sar Sarla'. Before the web show 'Scam 1992' exploded like a bomb, he directed a series of ensembles titled 'Sat Teri Ekvis'. One of his shows was also held in Ahmedabad recently. was In this conversation, Prateek gave interesting answers about why he is so passionate about theatre, theater and films. From his words, one can imagine how much an artist in him bounces.

'I felt like a newbie when I returned to the stage after a long gap of three years,' Prateek begins the conversation, 'Theatre has always been my comfort zone. It's a place where I feel like I always belong. During the epidemic, we could not perform a single play and even then the situation did not change much. I got busy with other projects and could not return to theatre. So I was in a hurry to return to the stage. I also wanted to see if it still beats in me. When I went on stage after such a long gap, I felt butterflies in my stomach. Anxiety and excitement again spread in the mind. I realized why I love theater so much. The moment I was on stage everything else became irrelevant. At that moment it was just me and the audience. I felt like I was back where I belonged.'

Feeling any pressure to deliver a hit show? In response to such a question, Prateek says, "My project after Scam-1992, which became a hit, was a Gujarati web-series - 'Vithal Teedi', which aired on Oho Gujarati. Hey, a lot of people told me not to do this show, but I did it because I loved the story. This is how I have done all my projects after 'Scam-1992'. I stay away from the pressure of giving hits. Not letting it affect my mental well-being. Success means different things to different people. As an actor, I don't weigh a project on a success-failure scale.

I go beyond my intuition. In the acting world no one labels us as 'regional artist' anymore. This is the best time for creative people who want to experiment in the entertainment industry. Industry in different languages has provided quality content. I think Bollywood is often missing its target, as most of the films are not doing well. Many of these films were made three years ago. The audience's tastes have changed so much over such a period that some of these films have become stale to them. Now I am starting to feel that Bollywood is my home.'

Saying this, Prateek adds, 'I have never felt a stranger in the circle of Bollywood. I totally feel like I belong here. Here I get to do different things. Bollywood is the biggest stage any actor can dream of. I got a chance to work with actresses like Taapsee Pannu and Vidya Balan here. So far this journey has been amazing. Working with such powerhouse performers made me realize that they are as passionate about acting as I am.'

Nowadays Prateek Gandhi is in news for an ambitious web series on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. This show is also to be directed by 'Scam 1992' director Hansal Mehta. What better combination of actor-director than this!
