- 'It cannot be said that films are not running. If it is not running, how can it be pre-sold? According to me, the attitude of the audience to watch films has changed.'
Ekta Kapoor, who made her mark as a serial creator on the small screen, has gone ahead and successfully established her presence in the film industry as well. He started TV while still in his youth. The popularity of serials reached its peak. The actors of the serials under his production were also starting to rise rapidly. This trend continues even today. These producers, who are used to talking without stealing words, are not happy to call the films women-oriented or male-oriented. He says that instead of calling the film female- or male-led, it should be given a professional slant. Explaining the reason for this, he says that if the audience likes the film, it does not matter if the lead role is a woman or a man. He gives the example of 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' and adds that Alia Bhatt has carried the entire movie on her shoulders. However, the audience has liked it a lot.
In recent times, most of the Bollywood movies have failed to do well at the box office. Naturally, there are debates about how long it will last, but Ekta doesn't believe it. He says that it cannot be said that films are not running. If it is not running, how can it be pre-sold? According to me, the attitude of the audience to watch movies has changed. They are no longer in a hurry to watch movies as soon as they are released as before. And the reason is OTT. They think that there is no need to rush to the theaters as soon as the film releases. Later it can be seen easily on OTT as well. This is why the filmmakers are also worried. They are sure that if a movie doesn't do well in theaters, it will definitely be watched on OTT for a long time.
The important thing is that Ekta knows very well that movies are not seen very much in theaters these days. However, he decided to release 'Dobara' in theatres. Explaining the reason for this, the producer says that according to me today's youth prefers to go to theaters with friends to watch movies, but they don't always go to cinemas just to watch violent movies. His attitude towards watching movies has changed. After leaving the theatre, they prefer to sit at home and watch movies where they can talk about a particular movie. I want the younger generation to come and watch this kind of cinema in theatres. This is why I took a calculated risk of releasing 'Dobara' in theatres. And now I want to release my next film 'Love Sex Aur Dhokha-2' in theatres. Of course, his success depends on how the response to 'Dobara' gets. However, one cannot take blind risks. As always, I think positively.
