Jacqueline Fernandez's lawyer claims: The actress has become a 'victim of a conspiracy'

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been accused in the money laundering case of crores of rupees against gangster Sukesh Chandrasekhar. According to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the 36-year-old actress received gifts worth Rs 5.71 crore from Sukesh. The case has now taken another twist in which Jacqueline Fernandez's lawyer has today claimed that the actress has become a victim of someone's conspiracy.

The lawyer's statement comes a day after the charge sheet was filed against the actress in the money laundering case.

The actress has been named in a supplementary charge sheet filed in a Delhi court by the Central Investigation Agency ED, which is probing the money trail in the extortion case involving Chandrasekhar.

Chandrasekhar was arrested by the Delhi Police for extorting Rs 215 crore from Aditi Singh and former promoter of pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy Shivinder Singh.

However, the Sri Lankan actress is unlikely to be arrested immediately as the ED is yet to present the charge sheet in the court. The court will validate the charge sheet only after that arrest can be made. However, now Jacqueline cannot leave India and go abroad.

Jacqueline has been questioned several times in the past in this case. The ED alleges that Sukesh Chandrasekhar gave gifts worth crores of rupees to Jacqueline out of the money collected in the cheating and extortion case.

The actress had said in a statement to ED last year that she received designer bags and clothes, bracelets from Gucci and Chanel as gifts. The actress told the investigating agency that Chandrasekhar had also gifted her a Mini Cooper car, which she had returned.
