OTT telecast of Nayantara's Annapurni is off

- Decision on police cases across the country

- Zee Studio also apologized for the film showing Sri Ram as a non-vegetarian

Mumbai: The broadcast of Nayantara's film 'Annapurni', which was involved in the controversy of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus, has finally been stopped from OTT.

The film is produced by Zee Studios and started streaming on Netflix last month. However, in this film, the example of Lord Shri Ram being a non-vegetarian is given to encourage the vegetarian heroine to cook non-veg. Besides, there are scenes where the heroine prays in a burqa before making the biryani. The film is also alleged to have encouraged love jihad.

A series of police complaints against the film has started by activists of Hindu organizations in various places of the country including Mumbai. Apart from the film's producer Zee Studio, actress Nayantara, complaints have also been filed against the Netflix platform. Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad also staged a protest outside Netflix's headquarters to stop the film from airing.

The film's producer, Zee Studios, has since issued an apology. In which it has been said that the film has been immediately removed from Netflix. The film will be streamed after re-editing. Zee Studio has stated that it does not want to hurt anyone's religious sentiments.
