Still saddened to reject Aamir Khan's superhit film, Shahid Kapoor cried after reading the script

Shahid Kapoor is celebrating his 43rd birthday today. So, he has played great roles in many blockbuster films in cinema but he is still sad to turn down one film and that film is Aamir Khan's superhit film Rang De Basanti.

Shahid Kapoor was offered Rang De Basanti

Rang De Basanti was a 2006 blockbuster film directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra. Actors like Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor, Siddharth and Soha Ali Khan worked with Aamir Khan in the film. However, you would hardly know that Shahid Kapoor was first casted for this film. The actor had also read the script but the talk could not happen.

On Neha Dhupia's show BFF with Vogue, Shahid Kapoor revealed that he regrets turning down Aamir Khan starrer Rang De Basanti. The actor said, I regret not doing this film. They wanted me to play the character of Siddharth. I cried reading the script and I loved it but unfortunately I couldn't make time for it.

Why was Rang De Basanti rejected?

Shahid Kapoor said in an old interview why he turned down the film. The actor said that he was offered Rang De Basanti at the last moment and could not devote time to the film at that time as he had other commitments. However, after the release, he watched the film and liked it very much.
