- The film was pushed back three days before its release due to the fury of Kovid-19
Mumbai: The release of 'Jersey' starring Shahid Kapoor in the lead role has once again been pushed back. The decision has been taken in view of the growing outbreak of Corona and Omicron cases across the country.
The film, which is set to release in cinemas across the country on December 31, was reported to be delayed for the fourth time three days before its release.
The producer of 'Jersey' said that in view of the current situation and in view of the new guidelines issued on Covid, we are postponing the release of this film in cinemas. "We have received a lot of love from all of you. We are grateful to you for everything," he told the Jersey team. May you all be safe and sound. We wish you all a Happy New Year.
It is worth mentioning here that this movie starring Mrinal Thakur as the lead actress is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster of the same name in the year 2014. The movie was first slated to release in August 2020. But its release was delayed due to the epidemic. The creators later announced that it would be released during Diwali but once again it was delayed and it was decided to release on December 31. It is produced by South Indian film industry producers Allu Arvind, Dil Raju and Shahid Kapoor's friend Aman Gill.
Jersey director Gautam Tinnanuri said the movie tells the story of a failed cricketer who returns to play cricket to fulfill his son's wish.
On Tuesday, Delhi's Disaster Management Committee ordered the immediate closure of cinemas and gyms. Various restrictions were also imposed on shops and public transport. In the guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government last week, cinemas were ordered to operate at 50 per cent capacity.
