- I have two Hollywood projects today. Can't give more details, but I must say that one horror is a horror film and the other is an action film.
Very few people know that actress Neetu Chandra Srivastava is a National Award winning producer. He started his own production house about 12 years ago. At that time, the heroines of Hindi films did not venture like this. Neetu acted in 'Garam Masala', 'Traffic Signal' and 'Oye Lucky! By working in Hindi films like 'Lucky Oye', critics took note of his talent, but Kuch Baat Bani Nahi in Mumbai, so he took the path of Hollywood. Chandra's English film 'Never Back Down: Revolt' was released in 2021, in which his work was praised. Following this, the actor has got two more films in Hollywood.
Neetu currently interacted with selected media persons in Mumbai and spoke interestingly about her career. The actor was first asked by the media that how was your transition from Bollywood to Hollywood? Chandra has the answer, 'Very good. You must know that Bollywood has been a part of my acting journey. I now want to do not much, but only quality work. I have a project in South Korea, for which I will be going at the end of April. It's funny that I have foreign films, but Bollywood is not ready to take notice. Well, okay. I have no antagonism against anyone and am not interested in creating controversies.'
Then the media asked Neetu to describe in detail how his Hollywood journey started and what efforts he had to make to get his first film. Chandra immediately started the story, 'There is no difference between here and there. Like Bollywood, actors in Hollywood also have to give auditions and screen tests. One has to meet people and have a positive attitude while being very confident. I had some film and theater experience. Now let me tell you something funny. When I went to my first special screening in Hollywood, everyone was looking at me suspiciously. They felt that I was a unique and different kind of person. He considered me a foreigner. I was surprised, because I thought of a tall lady with golden hair and blue eyes as a foreigner. Then I realized that for them, we are foreigners, people like us who are fair-skinned, medium-sized and have dark hair.'
When asked how was her first meeting with the producer of the film, Neetu continued, 'When I met the producer David Zelon, he told me in clear words that many actors from all over the world come here to seek work. Give us a reason why we should choose you out of all of them. I told them that I am a black belt champion in taekwondo and am quite confident. I can promise you that you will not regret your decision if you cast me. Then I also had a lunch meeting with the writer of the film, Audrey Arkins. After lunch David asked Audrey to write a role that covered my personality and skills. That character should be one of the main leads. I was the only South Asian actor to work in 'Never Back Down: Revolt'.
The last question was asked to Neetu Chandra that how do you see the journey of your life so far? The martial arts champion replies, 'I started my own production house 12 years ago. I have taken action training. My Hollywood film has been released. When I decided to do Hindi films, no role was ready for me, so I went abroad and did a Greek language film, from there I went to New York and my Hollywood journey began. I have two Hollywood projects lined up today, which I can't go into details about right now, but will say one is a horror film and the other is an action film. In short, it was too hard for me to wait to get the kind of work I wanted to do.'
